The woods.

It's nice being back in a small town for a short wile. It's a pretty comfortable life, it's quiet. Though I'm sure that has to do with my wonderful parents. It's funny as a teeny bopper I of course spent as little time at home with them as I could but now that I'm older and live far away, I'm afraid that I'm going to miss important parts of their lives. I miss them.

I love the city too, don't misunderstand me. My childhood is here in the country side, my young adult life in a small city, my adult life in a big city. I have a feeling of nostalgia and nostalgia is comforting. It's nice to come home to the crazy that you know after dealing with the crazy that you don't know. It's strangely restful.

I was never one of those kids growing up in a small town that would wish in all their angsty glory to their teenage compatriots that "I gotta get out of this small town". I was a pretty dopy kid. I was super smart in my way but I had social integration problems and didn't understand hi-school social structure. I never have been able to comprehend other girls and they are still a mystery to me. I was totally stunted in personal skills in a super strange way. I was overly sensitive to other people's feelings. I think being in a small town eventually helped me with that. I would get over loaded easily, because I could pick up on everything that was going on, and I would walk around in a daze because it was all happening faster than my child brain could comprehend. That might be why I loved being in the woods so much.

I practically lived outside away from everyone but my bother. The woods are down the street from my house. I would run down there and escape from everyone. Sometimes I would even skip school and go down there all day. My brother and I would explore all day long, look for glowing mushrooms, watch birds, find critters, beetles, flowers, berries, and play in the brush. I loved it down there. Even today if I'm feeling particularly overloaded I think back to those times with my brother. I think of the serenity that I felt down there by the river and and things always seem to get better.

See, I've always been a Tomboy.
